David was enrolled in the Binghamton University and earned a bachelor of science degree from the same University. Eventually, he graduated as a J.D. with honors from the Boston University School of Law in 1985. During his time in the law school, he worked as a summer associate at 2 law firms in Los Angeles, California. He got fascinated with entertainment law on which the firms primarily worked.
After the law school, he worked as a compliment professor at the Fordham University, teaching graduate courses in cable television business. David also took positions in variously reputed New York City firms like LeBouf, Lambz, Lieby, and MacRae in the year 1985. He was sent to work as a counsel for the Discovery Channel by his firm. After his time working with the Discovery and MTV at the law firm, he was hired as a lawyer for the cable division of NBC and company’s head of Cable Business Development. David and Bob Wright, an executive at NBC, together helped NBC to get into cable field with the development of CNBC and MSNBC. At the same time, they were competing with other channels like Headline News and CNN.
David was again associated with Discovery Channel when it hired him to be the CEO of the firm in the year 2007. And till date, he has held the position, uplifting the channel’s prosperity.
Speaking of now, the Discovery Channel has left its headquarters in the Silver Spring for a new headquarter in New York. While talking to patch on 3 September 2018, David said that 550k area covering the building with 10-story is being sold to Foulger-Pratt and Cerebus Capital Management.
He also added that it was quite hard to decide to move to a new headquarter as Discovery Channel was founded in Maryland since 1991.
David also has a fascinating social life along with his family. According to pagesix on 3 September 2018, David threw a starry Shark-themed party and hosted with his wife Pam.
