She performed her 11th season of Swan Lake at the Metropolitan Opera in May. Soon after that, she got linked with Jagger.

Considering her personal life, she was once engaged to Cuban former ballet dancer Jose Manuel Carreno. He proposed her in May 2011 for the wedding. Hamrick and Manuel Carreno’s wedding was planned to be on March 15, 2013, but the marriage got canceled in 2014. It is not entirely clear why the couple ended their relationship.
Later, she got involved with the legendary rocker Mick Jagger. She reportedly met Mick in Tokyo in February 2014, when she was on her ballet tour, and Mick was in the city performing with the Stones.
During that time she was still engaged with Jose, whereas, Mick was in a long-term relationship with the American fashion designer L'Wren Scott. Less than after she met with him, his girlfriend took her own life in her New York apartment due to the pressure of enormous debts and business difficulties.
Later, after the incident in June Melanie was first pictured together with Mick papped on the balcony of Mick's penthouse at the five-star Dolder Grand hotel in Zurich.

After less than two years of transatlantic dating, she discovered she was pregnant with Mick's child. However, the two got separated after they realized that their long distance relationships were not working and they didn’t even get married.
