Tara was later raised in New Jersey by her parents with mixed ethnicity. She comes from a law enforcement background where her grandfather, Emil Setmayer served for four decades with Paramus Police Department and retired at the age of 71.

After completing her schooling from Fair Lawn High School, a public comprehensive school in the area, Tara earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Political Science from The George Washington University.
