Kris Van started his television career as the producer of KTLA-TV/Tribune's nationally syndicated CyberGuy Report. He previously served as a reporter at XETV/Fox6 News in San Diego, California and then moved to Colorado Springs at KOAA-TV as a reporter.
After that, he served as a reporter and anchor at WJLA-TV and NewsChannel 8 in Washington, D.C for almost eight years.
During the time, Kris covered the Virginia Tech massacre, the mass shooting at Washington's Navy Yard, and the 2012 South Carolina GOP presidential primary. He also anchored NewsChannel 8's 6:00 PM newscast.
Kris then served as a correspondent for CBS Newspath, the Network's 24-hour television newsgathering service for CBS stations and broadcasters around the world. Since joining CBS News in 2014, he covered some breaking news stories including the Boston Marathon bombing trial and the crash of Germanwings 9525.
