Sophie Okonedo is an English actress best known for her mind-blowing roles in several films and TV series.

Her father, Henry Okonedo, was a British Nigerian who worked as a government worker in England. He passed away in 2009. Her mother, Joan Allman, was a British Jew and was employed as a Pilates teacher. Her maternal grandparents were Yiddish-speaking, who had emigrated from Poland and Russia to the United Kingdom.

When Sophie was five-years-old, her father left his family in 1973. Then, she was raised by her single mother in her mother’s Jewish faith.
After her parents’ separation, her mother brought her up in the Chalkhill Estate, a large council estate within the Wembley Park district of the London Borough of Brent.
Growing up in her family’s relative poverty, Sophie compromised for various facilities, but she always had books to read, which eventually developed an interest in the arts and entertainment industry.
Determined to pursue acting as a profession, she went to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), one of the oldest and most renowned drama schools in London.
Later, she also graduated from the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England.
