Chuck Hughes was born on 29 June 1982 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. His mother, Francine Couture was a stewardess and brought back seafood from her trips. The foods from the trip inspired Chuck to cook seafood.

Chuck's father, Chuck Hughes Sr. died at the age of 40. So, his mother got married for the second time to Pierre Hebert, a director known for movies like La Cage, and Triptyque 2. 

As for Chuck’s education, he enrolled in culinary school and became a certified chef. He worked in Montreal’s hottest kitchen and never backed out.

In the year 2006, Chuck and his two best friends decided to open up their restaurant named Garde Manger. The restaurant quickly gained fame.

It was in the year 2010, Chuck invited the world to his kitchen in Garde Manger with his television show Chuck’s Day Off, where he cooked for his family and friends. The show became a hit, and in its third season, it was aired on 20 different countries.
