When they first met, her husband was interning at Mount Sinai. During the date, they made a plan, but Carolyn hesitated and made a lot of excuses for her sister's pregnancy and appendicitis.

But she was not able to avoid him and eventually started dating. The couple exchanged their wedding vows in September 1991.
