Forty years of age Allan Hawco is a Canadian actor and producer who is best known for his roles in the series The book of Negroes, Republic of Doyle and ZOS: Zone of Separation and the television films The Trojan Horse and H2O. He was born on July 28, 1977, in Bell Island, Newfoundland, and Labrador.

Allan the youngest of four children but his family moved to Goulds, Newfoundland, and Labrador at an early age. His mother whose name is Mary Hawco, was an elementary school teacher and a former nun and his father, Michael Hawco, worked on the Bell Island Ferry. He studied business at Memorial University, but he dropped out in favor of the National Theatre School of Canada. 

Hawco's began his acting career working in a drama. His first role was in the Shakespeare by the Sea production of Macbeth, which was directed by Aiden Flynn. Since then director Danielle Irvine encouraged Allan to audition for the National Theatre School where he was one of 13 students who were selected from thousands of applicants that year.

He graduated from the National Theatre School in Canada in the year 2000. Hawco has worked in many of the major theaters in the country. He started his own production company called The Company Theatre with Philip Riccio. The Company’s inaugural production which was called A Whistle in the Dark brought Hawco fame and critical acclaim. Their production of Festen won him three Dora Awards in 2009, including an Outstanding Production of a Play.

Hawco's earlier movie appearances include Canadian productions such as Love and Savagery, Making Love in Saint Pierre and Above and Beyond. His career took off when he launched his own TV series Republic of Doyle, which premiered in the year 2010.

Hawco is co-creator with Malcolm MacRury and Perry Chafe and lead actor, head writer, executive producer as well as the show’s showrunner. The show has been sold more than 90 countries, and it maintains over a million viewers every week on CBC television in Canada. Hawco was the recipient of the Nation Theatre School`s prestigious Gascon- Thomas Awards.

Hawco was presented with the Outstanding Achievement Award from Canadian Film and Television Hall of Fame in 2011.

In 2016 Hawco appeared in the series Frontier by Discovery Channel.

Hawco is a married person. His wife is a CBC  reporter named Carolyn Stokes. The couple`s wedding happened in 2012 in the midst of working on the Republic of Doyle. There is no news of the couple having any child. Similarly, there is no news about his past relationships and girlfriends.
