Trevor McDonald was born as George McDonald on 16 August 1939 in San Fernando, Trinidad, and Tobago, to parents Lawson McDonald and Geraldine McDonald. He currently ages 78 years old.
His father, Lawson McDonald, worked in an oil refinery and raised pigs. Trevor grew up as the eldest of four children in his family.
Being raised in poor conditions, Trevor was deprived of the quality education in his young age. However, the motivation and strength provided by his caring parents paved the way for him to learn much despite the perverse situation.
Building himself up with the time, Trevor received honorary degrees from the University of Plymouth and Liverpool John Moores University. His media journey kick-started in the 1960s as he worked as a print and broadcast journalist in Trinidad.
Trevor’s English media career began in 1969 when he joined BBC Radio as a producer based in London. Later on, McDonald initiated his long association with Independent Television News (ITN) in 1973 as a general reporter. After a while, he served as a sports correspondent before focusing on international politics.
Serving for the network, Trevor presented News at Ten from 1992 until the show got axed in 1999. However, the show returned on 22 January 2001 and Trevor resumed his role as a presenter.
After reaching a great height with the ITV network, McDonald decided to take his retirement on 15 December 2005. Nevertheless, the veteran journalist came out of his retirement in 2008 to present the relaunched News at Ten.
He worked until 30 October 2008 and left the show after the 2008 US presidential election concluded. Then after, he continued to present links for The Tonight Programme.

Prior Josephine, McDonald enjoyed a married life with wife, Beryl, who he first met during a cricket match.
After being attracted to one another, the pair decided to tie the wedding knots in 1964. Soon enough, they welcomed their two children; Tim, born in 1970 and Joanne, born in 1974.
However, the long-haul togetherness finally came to an end in 1985 as they filed a divorce after a long separation. A year later, Trevor moved on with his second wife, Josephine.
