Coincidently enough, her father’s name also happens to be Phillip. However, Lui’s mother remarried, and she was co-parented by her mother and step-father, Jeff, who already passed away.
In memory of her step-father, she took to ‘gram to share her heartfelt words on his demise on October 31, 2020. The caption she paired with his picture surely tells how close she was with Jeff. She wrote,
Jeff didn’t become part of my life until I was about six years old, but when he arrived - we became a family. On paper, he was my ‘stepdad,’ but in life - he was so much more than that.
Lui’s Excelling Career
Lui was passionate about news from an early age. With a dream to become a journalist, she pursued her education from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in 1993 and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Radio in 1995.
After her graduation, she joined CFAX Radio in Victoria in 1996 as a News Reporter and Anchor and served for three years. Then she went to CHEK-TV and worked as a reporter and anchor until 2002.
After that, Sophie worked for various radio stations like CKNW, CKIQ in Kelowna and finally joined her current news station, Global BC as an anchor.
Along with continuing her profession in media, she also worked as an actress appearing in TV series like Smallville, The Company You Keep, Power Rangers, and many more. Gradually, she began to appear in several movies and TV shows, establishing herself in the entertainment industry.
