Rick Mitchell is the chief meteorologist, broadcasting for NBC 5 first at 4 and NBC 5 News at 10 p.m.
He has garnered a humongous experience covering the weather in Oklahoma. He has been in the field, serving his prescribed role even in the craziest tornadoes.
Among them, the most intense one Rick covered would be the one on 3rd May 1999. However, it was the very thing that got him into the weather.
When his younger self was just about ten years of age, he got to witness a blizzard, never knowing it would be a defining the storm of his career.
Rick Mitchell’s Career At NBC 5, Salary
Rick, who stands to some undisclosed height, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from the University of Nebraska and nearly spent 18 years at KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City, prior to his NBC 5 days.
The former KOCO-TV’s chief meteorologist also forecasted at WOI-TV in Des Moines, Iowa.

Meanwhile, the recipient of the CBM Seal from the American Meteorological Society joined the NBC 5 in August 2012.
Some of the memorable commendations he received for his severe weather forecasting years would be the one from Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters and the Associated Press, not forgetting to mention the one from Oklahoma governor Frank Keating.
All in all, Rick's long hauls were worthwhile for it must have paid him off with tremendous fame and most importantly, with a generous salary.
Over Three Decades Of Married Life, Wife
It was 37 years ago on a certain beautiful day on 2nd April when Rick and his now-wife had their first date.
The then-young love birds now successfully celebrated their 32nd year of married life in May 2019.

Together, they grew so much in love with each passing day, facing their shares of highs and lows.
During the year 2014, Rick's wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. However, she was lucky that her treatment procedure went well. After two surgeries, five months of chemo and thirty-three radiations, she was done with cancer as of March 2015.
Today, the brave cancer survivor inspires a great many women with her inspiring stories.
She seems to have been engaged in cancer awareness cause. And, her husband is proud of this very role of hers.
More to the family is their beautiful kids. Rick time and again shares glimpses of them on his social media.
He is a proud father of his youngest one, a son named, Shane Steinkraus and a beautiful daughter, Zoe, who recently completed her mainstream education with a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
