Jeff Zeleny whose full name is Jefferey Dean Zeleny is a very renowned and reputed journalist. He is the senior White House Correspondent working for CNN. Previously he was a Senior Washington Correspondent for ABC News.
Jeff was born on June 10, 1973, in Exeter, Nebraska. He was born to Diane Naomi and Robert Dean Zeleny. He also has two elder brothers above him. They are James Robert Zeleny and Michael Jon Zeleny respectively. All three of them were brought up on the family farm.
Moving on to his education, Zeleny attended a public high school in the small town of Exeter, Nebraska called Exeter High School. Even at his early age, he showed a deep interest in journalism because while he was a student, he contributed sports stories to the York News-Times in neighboring York County.
For his higher education, he got enrolled at the University of Nebraska. Here he majored in journalism and political science. He passed out in 1996. While he was at the University, he again showed his talents in journalism as he became the editor of the school’s newspaper called Daily Nebraskan. As an extracurricular activity, he played the trumpet too in the University of Nebraska Cornhusker Marching Band.
While being at the college, he already did an internship for the newspapers like the Wall Street Journal, the Florida Times-Union and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. After that in 1996, he began working for The Des Moines Register. Originally he had planned to become a sports reporter, but the importance of the Iowa caucuses caused him to be a political specialist.
In 2000, he began writing for The Chicago Tribune. For this paper, he covered the presidential campaigns in the year 2000 and 2004. While working at the Tribune, he also won the Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Journalism for his work on a series of air traffic control problems nationwide.
In 2006, The New York Times gave him a job to cover politics, and thus he covered the 2012 presidential election for the paper. He was also their lead reporter at that time. In 2013, he again got hired by ABC News to the post of senior Washington correspondent and to provide stories for the website. Then in 2015, he joined CNN. Due to his successful career, he earns a handsome salary of more than $250000 annually.
Jeff is alleged to be living a single life. He is not married and doesn’t have a wife. Any girl would be lucky to have him his as a husband and be a life partner. Although he has not been seen with any boyfriend, there have some gay rumors, but they are just rumors. He belongs to mixed ethnicity as he has a Czech ancestry on both sides of his family with most of his ancestors coming from Bohemia and some from Moravia.
