Faisal Islam, award-winning English economics and political journalist, was born on 29 May 1977 in Manchester, England, UK. His family was the origin of Bengali, and his father was an immigrant.

He studied at Manchester Grammer School in Manchester, and in 1988, completed his college at Trinity College at the University of Cambridge. In 2000, he post-graduated on Diploma in Newspaper Journalism from City University in London.
Faisal, who is British by nationality, started his work as economics journalist for The Observer newspaper. In 2004, he went to Channel 4 News and became a business correspondent. Later in May 2004, he became economics editor, but Paul Mason replaced him on 1 June 2014.
After spending the fantastic decade at Channel 4, he joined Sky News in 2014 as Political Editor. He was named as the heir of Adam Boulton who was also the long-serving political editor of Sky News.
