Kirsty's father underwent heart surgery after suffering from a heart attack in 2013 in Aberdeen. The condition was critical since he was in a coma for a week. Kirsty is very close to her father and believes that his near-death experience made her a stronger. She feels that her perspective on life has changed her and made her a better person.

Kirsty Gallacher did not give up on love after the tumultuous relationship with her ex-husband, Paul Sampson.
