Rugby star Ben Volavola was born on 13 January 1991, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Ben’s father is of Indian descent while his mother is Fijian. Ben moved to Fiji in his early days and grew up there up until the age of 9. In 2000, Volavola moved back to Sydney and lived with his mother, Ema Volavola, and younger brother, Milan Volavola.

During his high school days, Ben generated massive interest in playing rugby. In his time at Endeavour Sports High School (2005–2008) and Newington College (2009–2010), Volavola continued to feature in school-level rugby competitions.
Ben completed his Certificate III and IV in Fitness at the Australian Institute of Fitness in 2012. Subsequently, Volavola finished a Business Diploma with the Australian Vocational Training Academy.
Ben’s success at the domestic level earned him a place in New South Wales Waratahs squad for the 2013 Super Rugby season. Previously, he also represented Australia U20 in the 2011 IRB Junior World Championship.
