Tokio Myers was born as Torville Jones on 6 April 1984 in London, the United Kingdom. Talking about his family background, he is the descendant of West Indian and British parents.

Tokio was brought up in Kilburn in central London. Tokio states that his father has done every kind of job, from chef to a construction worker while his mom worked in hospitals.
The 34-year-old did his schooling from St. George’s Catholic School, and later went to Royal College of Music and graduated from there.
Tokio kick-started his career in the year 2000 by joining British musician Mr Hudson, who supported many successful artists like Kanye West, Amy Winehouse, and The Police.
Later in the year 2013, he left Mr Hudson and joined singer Lianne La Havas's record label as a sideman. He started playing in shopping malls and anywhere possible.

In 2017, Tokio competed in Britain’s Got Talent.
It was his sister who suggested him to compete in the show. Tokio had no hope of winning and was pretty nervous in his audience. But, everything changed once he started playing the piano in his audition.
Tokio eventually won the show in 2017. He also appeared on the stage as a guest in the semifinals of BGT 2018.

In the same conversation, he shared that he witnessed the murder of his headmaster Philip Lawrence when he was just 11 years old. He disclosed that Philip died of a single stab wound at St George’s School in Maida Vale, West London, in 1995 while trying to save a pupil from a gang.
