Tobi Bakare was born in 1989 in London, England, UK. His parents are originally from Nigeria. His mother had worked as an account manager for the Nigerian actress and business mogul, Lizy Anjorin.
Tobi attended Hertfordshire University where he pursued a Bachelor of Science degree. He was also trained at Identity Drama School.
Tobi Bakare is married to his wife, Prisca. They tied the knot six months after their first met.

As a young boy, Tobi Barake had an aim to become a professional footballer. Back then he was a good player and had trails by Millwall FC to go professional. However, he was not selected, so a teacher suggested him to try drama classes. As his suggestion, Tobi began to take drama classes and began enjoying them.
He landed his first TV role in 2007 in the TV series, Holby City playing the role of Semper Maynard in an episode titled Countdown. In the same year, he performed the character of Andy Farmer in the TV series Silent Witness and continued to appear as a recurring role until 2012.
In 2008, he got the chance to portray in the TV series, The Bill as Anthony Watt and as Mate 2 in the series, Dani’s House.
In 2010, he played guest roles in several TV shows like in Casualty as Sam Craven, in Playhouse: Live as Fit, and in PhoneShop as Nightclub Doorman 1.
In 2011, he played minor roles in the TV Mini-Series, The Shadow Line as Andy Dixon, in Doctors as Lee Clough and in the film, The Somnambulists as Man 5.Then in 2013, he landed the recurring role of Chuks Akinade in the TV series, The Tunnel.

The year 2014 starred Tobi in various significant roles. He appeared as Jamie in the show, The Smoke and as DJ Eddie in the mini-series, One Child. In the same year, he landed his breakthrough role in the popular film, Kingman: The Secret Service as Jamal. Again in 2017, he played the same role in the film’s sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

However, Tobi gained widespread popularity and critical acclaims when he starred in the role of J.P. Hooper in one of the top shows in the UK, Death in Paradise. It is a crime drama series originally aired by BBC One since October 2011. Tobi appeared in the show as a recurring character since 2015.
