Tim Downie was born in July 1977 in a village very close to Hitchin, Hertfordshire, England. He lived to a great childhood. His family had acres of fields and this made him feel like he had reign to go anywhere.

Writing and acting is something that comes to Tim Downie naturally. He began writing and directing short films while enrolled in drama school, during his twenties. He trained at Mountview Academy of Theatrical Arts in North London.
His first commissioned play The Dead Moon became the first "non-operatic" work to be staged at the Aldeburgh Festival, followed up with appearances at Cannes some years later in the Straight 8 competition.
