Regarding his educational academics, Mamoudou studied acting at the Yale School of Drama and William Esper Studio.

Despite a series of roles, he got his big break only in 2007 via the drama film Patti Cake$. During the audition, he was selected in a single shot for his role as 'Basterd'. However, in an interview in 2017, Mamoudou revealed that his parents would never watch Patti Cake$ because of his role of antichrist.
In addition to the movies, Mamoudou's roles in the TV shows The Get Down, Tawk, and Madam Secretary, Grandmaster Flash has also been loved by the audience.
With the success of his role, he went on to feature in big movies such as One Percent More Humid, Unicorn Store, The Circle, The Front Runner along with Alex Karpovsky.
