Joonas Suotamo is a Finnish former professional basketball player and actor best known for his portrayal in the space-opera media franchise movies of Star Wars, which is worldwide famous.
Until now (as of December 2019), he has appeared in Star Wars movies like Stars Wars: Episode VII-The Force Awakens in 2015, Star Wars: Episode VIII- The Last Jedi in 2017, Solo: A Star Wars Story in 2018, and Stars Wars: The Rise of Skywalker where he has portrayed the character of Chewbacca.

Joonas Suotamo was born on 3rd October 1986, in Espoo, Uusimaa, Finland, as Joonas Viljami Suotamo.
He rarely talks about his family members publicly though he has mentioned his parents on his social media posts sometimes. His mother, Sonja Suotamo’s Instagram bio says that she is a painter with numerous paper drawings shared on her account.

Joonas has had an interest in music and movies from a young age. So upon growing, he attended Penn State University and graduated with a degree majoring in Film and Video.
While in the university, he also continued his professional basketball career. There, he played as a power forward and center for the Penn State Nittany Lions.
After graduating, he worked as an insurance seller briefly to make him busy.
He also remained as a jobless basketball player with his mother for a short time until he heard of a worldwide casting call for a 7-foot actor with blue eyes from Star Wars, production. As he suits the character with the height of 6 feet and 11.5 inches (2.12 meters), he immediately responded to it and was selected.
Eventually, he began by performing as a body double for the original Chewbacca character Peter Mayhew in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which was released on 18th December 2015.
As Peter’s deteriorating health made him difficult to play the role, Joonas replaced him entirely in the next Stars Wars: The Last Jedi, released on 15th December 2017.
By now, he has performed in several Star Wars movies and related video games and TV series.
Married To Wife
Joonas Suotamo is happily married to Milla Pohjasvaara.
The couple is blessed with a son named Aatos as their first child. Joonas announced through his Instagram that their son was born on 30th January 2018.
Recently, through 24th November 2019’s Instagram, the couple has announced that they are going to welcome their second child, a baby girl, due in March 2020.

As of their love story, Joonas is speculated to be in a relationship with Milla from the beginning of his acting career since the first picture of Joonas shared by Milla dates back in August 2015.

Two years later, in early August 2017, Joonas flaunted an engagement ring announcing that he had proposed to his girlfriend and that she said ‘yes.’
However, the couple only got married after Milla gave birth to their first kid. They tied the knot on 14th July 2018.
