Amaury Nolasco was born as Amaury Nolasco Garrido on 24th December 1970 in Puerto Rico to Dominican parents. He has a brother and a sister. His sister, named Deborah passed away in 2010.

He studied biology as a full-time student at the University of Puerto Rico with an intention to become a doctor. However, after moving to New York, he was trained at the American British Dramatic Arts School.

Amaury Nolasco began dating American TV personality, Andrea Pambechy in 2006. They were in a relationship for almost a year until they broke up in 2007.
After Andrea, he was rumored to be dating the Puerto Rican model, beauty queen and Miss Universe 1993, Dayanara Torres in 2007. They were also seen making a public appearance together in early June 2007 in Los Angeles while attending Alma Awards, Chrysalis Butterfly Ball, and the MTV Movie Awards.

However, Amaury and Dayanara separated in March 2008 after dating for about eight months. Then Amaury was linked with the American model and actress, Katie Cleary, in 2008.
A year later, in January 2009, Amaury began dating American actress and producer, Jennifer Morrison. But, the couple’s relationship only lasted for three years, until May 2012.

While studying in Puerto Rico, Amaury Nolasco was approached by a director who introduced him to acting and also cast him in his first television commercial.
Then after relocating to New York and studying acting, he appeared with some big screens like the movie Fall in 1997, where he was cast with an uncredited role as a waiter. Next year, he was given a small role in the TV series, New York Undercover.
Then in 1999, he appeared as Pedro Mendoza in the TV series, Early Edition, and in 2000, he performed the role of Victor in the movie, Brother.

2003 saw him in two films, 2 Fast 2 Furious as Orange Julius and The Librarians as Minadeo. Then in 2005, he played his breakthrough role as Fernando Sucre in the hit TV series, Prison Break. In 2008, he appeared as Detective Cosmos Santos in the movie Street Kings and as Jack Lupino in the movie, Max Payne.
From 2010 to 2011, he was cast in a recurring role of Marco Martinez in the TV series, Chase, and from 2012 to 2013, he played a significant role in Angel Ortiz in the TV series, Work It.
After that, Amaury began to get various major roles in both movies and TV shows. From 2015 to 2016, he played the character, Rodrigo Suarez, in the series, Telenovela and FBI Agent Mike Alvarez, in the TV show, Deception. Additionally, he was also portrayed as Esteban Ruiza in the movie Criminal and Agent Lopez in the movie Speed Kills.
