Melissa Nord is an American meteorologist currently working for WUSA-TV 9 in Washington, D.C., anchoring News Weekend Evenings and Weekdays at Noon. 

As a talented journalist, she is awarded Associated Press 2018 and Emmy Award 2018 for the best Meteorologist in the D.C.-Baltimore area. 

In addition to her weather forecasting career, she also advocates for inspiring people to be excited about science and encourages STEM education.

She also helps to engage students at a young age in hands-on STEM learning and serves as a member of the STEM Advisory Council for the Children’s Science Center in Northern Virginia.

Melissa grew up in Georgia, the USA, with her family. She is very close to her family members. She has shared several pictures of them through her social media posts. 

On a Facebook post dated 1st March 2018, she shared pictures of her recently deceased grandmother, Maria, and captioned the post praising her love and her struggle.

She described her struggle to immigrate from a small village in Ukraine, near the Carpathian Mountains to America with her grandfather, Peter, and their four children. 

Similarly, she can be found wishing her parents on Mother’s or Father’s day. She has also posted childhood pictures of her two sisters, remembering the happy moments spent with them.

Melissa was passionate about weather from a young age. Upon growing, she was determined to pursue an education in weather science, so she joined the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2008.

She graduated with a degree in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences with a concentration in Meteorology in 2013. 

While studying in college, Melissa began collecting experience in weather forecasting and interned with the National Weather Service Office in the Atlanta area.

She had also interned with Fox 5 Atlanta, WSB-TV, and The Weather Channel.

A year later, after graduation, she became the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) in 2014 from the American Meteorological Society and began her professional career.

Married To Husband

Melissa Nord is happily married to her husband. Though details of her husband are yet to be revealed, she has mentioned her husband several times through her social media posts.

On a Facebook post dated 7th September 2017, the couple can be seen celebrating honeymoon in Turks and Caicos and sharing beautiful pictures from there.

Apart from her happy married life, she is also fond of pets.

She has an adopted German Shepherd Mix dog named Buzz and an adopted cat named Emma. Additionally, she also loves cooking and spending time with her family in her spare time.
