Buckley initiated her media career at the young age of 12, appearing on BBC local radio in Manchester. She worked as the host of a children’s radio program. At the same time, Ginny hosted the iconic BBC kid’s program, Multi-Coloured Swap Shop, where she interviewed Noel Edmonds, David Bellamy, and the pop group, Sad Café.

After her move to Sydney, Buckley served as a junior in the newsroom at 2UW and later at Triple M. Subsequently, Ginny worked as a producer for the top-rated show Club Veg

Buckley returned to Britain in the mid-1990s and started working as a reporter on the regional news program Granada Tonight for Granada Television in Manchester. Buckley joined BBC One's travel program Holiday in 2001. She served as a reporter and was later promoted as the primary anchor.
