Brianna Marie Keilar was born on September 21 of the year 1980, in Canberra, Australia. She is the senior political correspondent and anchor for CNN in Washington D.C. bureau. She hosts the 12 p.m. Eastern Time edition of CNN Newsroom program. Her father Glenn is an Australian citizen and her mother Miriam was American. The Keilars were stationed in Australia when Brianna was born. Keilar and her family moved to the United States and settled in Orange County, California in 1982.

Keilar previously worked as a Congressional correspondent, White House Correspondent and general assignment correspondent for CNN in Washington. Before that  Keilar worked at CNN Newsource as a national correspondent and it was also in Washington.

Keilar completed her graduation from Mission Viejo High School in the year 1998. There she was voted homecoming queen in her senior year. In 2001 Keilar graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. There she was admitted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society. She earned her bachelor's degree in two subjects; Mass Communications and Psychology in 2001.

Keilar joined CNN as a news correspondent for CNN Newsource. There she provided reports and breaking news coverage from the nation’s capital for approximately 800 CNN Newsource stations. Previously she had worked for CBS News where she served as a reporter, anchor, and producer for a CBS newscast which aired on mtvU which is MTV's college network. She had also worked as a fill-in anchor on CBS News’ overnight newscast called Up to the Minute.

In 2009 Keilar earned the National Press Foundation Everett McKinley Dirksen Award for her Distinguished Reporting of Congress for her fall 2008 coverage of the $700 billion bailouts in the bank. She covered a wide range of stories as a general assignment correspondent for the network which included the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre where she was the first CNN correspondent on the ground to report.  She gave a speech at the commencement ceremony for her alma mater in 2013.

Keilar was named as the replacement for John King`s weekday temporary edition of Inside Politics at 12 pm E.T. following the Presidential election of 2016.

Keilar is a married woman. She was married to her husband, Dave French on May 2, 2009. Their wedding place is kept a secret. The couple later divorced. Keilar's mother died on May 17, 2016.

Keilar announced that she had been engaged to Fernando Lujan in July 2016. Lujan is a director on the National Security Council at the White House. During the CNN's New Year's Eve special on December 31 of 2016, Brooke Baldwin announced that Lujan and Keilar had married the previous evening in Las Vegas. There is no mention of their children yet. There was a rumor of her being pregnant and expecting a baby.
