British stand-up comedian Greg Davies is an actor popularly known for his roles as Greg in comedy series We Are Klang. But while being a cause of laughter to so many of his audiences, he withheld his pain and grief within himself while not letting any of his emotion hamper his act. 

Well, the comedian has faced numerous ups and downs in his life. Greg lost both his real life and on-screen father and even broke up with his longtime girlfriend at the same time in 2015.

The 50-year-old Greg was born as Gregory Daniel Davies on 14 May 1968 in St Asaph, Flintshire.

His father, Bob Davies hailed from Porthmadog while his paternal grandmother, Edith, and her sister, Rebecca, were illegitimate as his great-grandfather, William Owen, had a second family in Stanleytown. 

Sadly, his father died in 2014, and he performed an authentic and slightly emotional tone. However, he has not revealed his mother's identity but during his TV series Man Down, his mother stole the show, and he called his mother an absolute gem.

Like other people in North Wales, Greg, who grew up in Wem, Shropshire, also claims to be the descent of the great King Owain Gwynedd.

He, who stands at the tall height of 6’8’’ (2.03 meters) tall, completed his high schooling at Thomas Adams School in Wem. He graduated from Brunel University in Uxbridge in English and Drama.

Moreover, he is also very obsessed with bodybuilding, and his family supported wholeheartedly. Even to build his career his family was there for him on each step.

Before initiating a career in comedy, Greg was a former secondary teacher, who taught Drama and English for thirteen years at Langleywood School in Slough, Orleans Park School in Twickenham; and Sandhurst School in Sandhurst.

In 2005, Davies got the chance to play a caricature of cricketer W. G. Grace in a series of adverts for Channel 4's television coverage of The Ashes. His portrayal and acting were so compelling that Greg got nominated for the Chortle Awards in the category, Breakthrough Act thrice in 2007. 

In 2010, Greg' first solo stand-up show Firing Cheeseballs at a Dog was nominated for the Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Awards at the Edinburgh Festival. He was also nominated for Edinburgh Fringe's Malcolm Hardee "Act Most Likely to Make a Million Quid" Award.

From October 2013, Greg starred in Channel 4's sitcom Man Down as Dan, a man, who hates his job as a teacher. Actor Rik Mayall played his father in the series.

Afterward, Greg became the host of the British game show, Taskmaster in July 2015. Since then he has been a taskmaster in the show. 

Moreover, in December 2015, he starred as Tony in BBC Two's comedy-drama A Gert Lush Christmas. He portrayed the uncle character of Russell and Kerry Howard's roles.

In the BBC3 sitcom Cuckoo, Greg played Ken Thompson, a straight-laced father who is left stunned when daughter Rachel marries American hippie Dale's Cuckoo Asgbrick-played by Andy Samberg.

And in his another series, Man Down, he played the character of Daniel Davies, a fed-up teacher who recently broke up with his girlfriend. In this series, Rik Mayall starred as Greg's dad; the show was supposed to be expanded but unfortunately, Mayall passed away in 2014. 

Greg has worked very diligently and has shown his talent in his all series. He has garnered fans and media 's attention. He does his work with such a grace that no one can back out without watching him.

However, in an exclusive interview with Mirror magazine on 15 May 2015, Greg's longtime girlfriend, Liz revealed that she was no more in a relationship with the actor Greg. She further announced that they parted their ways in good terms and will remain good friends.

However, Greg himself has not uttered a single word regarding their separation to date. 

Just before the split with his partner, Greg had the unluckiest time of his life. His dearest father and actor Rik Mayall, on-screen dad, died in early 2014. Talking about his hard times with the Radio Times Magazine, Greg stated, 

‘My dad died a couple of months after Rik. It was a difficult year. It's a unique set of circumstances. It was incredibly sad. I was very close to my dad’.

It has been a long time since Greg split up with his partner; however, he has not been seen romantically linked with anyone to date. Due to the absence of a partner, he has been speculated to be gay.

However, his failed yet the previous relationship with girlfriend clarifies that Greg is not gay. Perhaps, he is on the search to find a perfect partner and get married.
