Joining CBS 2 in January 2015 as a general assignment reporter, Valerie Castro is an Emmy award-winning journalist.
Before joining CBS 2, Valerie spent five years at the CBS station, KCNC-TV, from 2009 to 2014, in Denver, Colorado.
Valerie covered several high profile stories, including historic wildfires, floods, and winter snowstorms. She was also present for the Aurora Theater Shooting and covered court hearings following that event.

A few months later, the couple got married in a stunning Rocky Mountain wedding in September 2010. Their wedding took place at the Chapel at Red Rocks in Morrison, Colorado, followed by a reception at the Terrace Gardens Ken Caryl.

The couple made a toast with a liquor called Aguardiente, the national drink of Colombia instead of Champagne, which was a special touch for her mother’s side of the family and friends.
