He also has a postgraduate teaching certificate in biological sciences from the University of Kent. He has also worked in Kent as a secondary school biology teacher.

Wade's journeys around the world have mostly been fishing and near the water creatures. But it is not restricted to only fishing. At various times, Wade has also been detained as a suspected spy, caught by malaria, survived a plane crash and been threatened at gunpoint. He is fluent in Portuguese, which he studied in Brazil where he spent many years fishing and lived in a small house there. He also speaks Spanish and French well.

Before starting his career in the TV industry, Wade worked as a secondary school biology teacher. He also spent some years of his life in Brazil fishing.

Wade 's started fishing from the year 1982. During that year, he went on a trip where he went to India's mountain rivers as well as worked in Amazon rain forests and Congo. He compiled his entire journey full of adventure in his first book which he published in 1992. His first book was titled " Somewhere Down the Crazy River."

Wade said that his trip to India was very hard going. "I took just £200 to last me three months, but I managed to catch some fish such as Himalayan Mahseer which weighed up to 18 pounds". After he finished his trip and returned to England, he wrote some articles about his experiences in India for a fishing magazine.

Talking about his personal life, there is not much information about his married life or wife or children if he has any. There is also not much information about his love affair or having a girlfriend in the past. But his personal website suggests that he is still unmarried. He has kept his personal life very secretive. There were also rumors about him being a gay.

In 2014 Wade featured in a movie playing the role of lamprey. The movie was a science fiction horror titled Blood Lake: Attack of the Killer Lampreys. He has earned a lucrative amount of salary from his professional career, and his current estimated net worth is $1.5 million.

Wade is fond of traveling and fishing. He has been through many awful experiences in his life so far which proves that he is indeed a brave person.
