Born on January 13, 1981, Ginger Zee is an American television personality. She was born in Orange, California and she is the daughter of Dawn E. Zuidgeest-Craft and Robert O. "Bob" Zuidgeest. She is the current Meteorologist for ABC world news on ABC and Good Morning America. Before that, she was the weekend Meteorologist for ABC. Zee is also the Chief Meteorologist for all platforms of ABC News.
Zee was among the 3 children of her house. She has two younger brothers named Walter "Wally" Zuidgeest and Sean Jeffrey Zuidgees. Other members of Zee`s family include a stepfather named Carl John Craft, and two half-sisters, Elaina Craft and Adriann. Zee's paternal grandparents are Adriaan Cornelis "Adrian" or "Arie" Zuidgeest and Hillegonda "Hilda" Zuidgeest. They immigrated to the United States from Netherlands.
Zee graduated in 1999 from Rockford High School in Rockford, Michigan. After that, she went on to Valparaiso University and there she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology as well as a major in both Spanish and mathematics. Her goal at the time of graduation was to be a Meteorologist by the age of 30 on The Today Show.
After she had graduated from college, she worked for various media outlets such as WYIN-TV in Merrillville, Indiana, WEYI-TV in Flint Michigan, WMAQ in Chicago, Illinois, WLAV-FM and WOOD-TV both in Grand Rapids, Michigan. While Zee was working at WMAQ from 2006-2011, she was asked to fill in as a guest meteorologist on the weekend edition of The Today Show. This fulfilled her high school goal. Zee is also an AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist.
On November 12, 2011, Zee joined Good Morning America Weekend. She occasionally appears on ABC World News Tonight and Nightline which the other ABC programmings.
On December 2, 2013, ABC News announced Zee as the Chief Meteorologist for Good Morning America. She was also given the position of weather editor for ABC News.
On 4th of March 2016, Zee was revealed as a celebrity competitor on the 22nd season of ABC`s Dancing with the Stars. She was paired with a professional dancer named Valentin Chmerkovskiv. The dancing couple reached the finals of the show, and they ended up winning the third prize.
Zee is a married woman. Zee got engaged in August 2013 to WNBC personality named Benjamin Aaron Colonomos. The couple had their wedding in Petoskey Michigan on June 7 of the year 2014. Ginger announced that she was pregnant on Good Morning America and said that she and her husband Ben were expecting their first child in December on June 29, 2015.
