Talking about his professional career, Reynolds started his career in 1947 at stations WJOB in Hammond, Ind. After that, he further went on to WBKB-TV and then WBBM-TV (the CBS station in Chicago) where he worked for twelve years.
Reynolds was a White House correspondent for CNN (1982-84) during the Reagan administration. In 1986, Reynolds worked at ABC's Tel Aviv and Jerusalem bureaus, where he covered the Palestinian uprising against Israeli forces, the war in the Balkans, the first Gulf War, the Arab-Israeli peace process, and the influx of Russian immigrants to the Jewish state.
In the year 1995 till 1998, he worked at ABC's Dallas bureau where he used to report on the stories throughout the Midwest and Southwest that includes the Oklahoma City bombing and the trial of Timothy McVeigh.
Reynold was the recipient of three Emmy Awards, as well as the White House Correspondents' Association's Merriman Smith Award for excellence in presidential news coverage for his reporting on the shooting of President Ronald Reagan.
