Alaina Pinto, a well-known news personality at WHDH network, was let go by the network after the journalist took on a role in Adam Sandler’s movie, Hubie Halloween. On the remark that the journalist violated her contract with WHDH, she was fired in October 2020.
Why Was Alaina Pinto Let Go By WHDH?
Pinto shared the news of her being fired by the network through her Twitter post, where she shared the reason for the misfortune.
Wanting to be transparent about her situation, she described mistakenly violating her contract terms and conditions when she appeared in the movie Hubie Halloween.
In the movie, she plays a cameo as a news host for a fictional news broadcasting channel. She discusses the upcoming Halloween event dressed as Harley Quinn, a DC comics character.
Hi Friends! I have some news to share…
Earlier this week I was let go from 7 News. I am posting this because I want to be open and honest with all of you. Last year, I participated in a cameo in the recently released Netflix movie by Adam Sandler, "Hubie Halloween". (1/3) — Alaina Pinto (@alainapinto) October 15, 2020
As it turns out, according to her contract, she wasn’t allowed to make her appearance in any movies. And, the violation forced the network to terminate Pinto, who had been serving WHDH since 2016.
In doing so, I mistakenly violated my contract with the station and I understand why management unfortunately chose to terminate me. I am deeply disappointed and saddened, and I hoped this would not be how things evolved. (2/3) — Alaina Pinto (@alainapinto) October 15, 2020
Bidding her farewell to the station and all her viewers and her WHDH colleagues, she wrote,
Thanks to all my wonderful 7 News viewers and my supportive and great colleagues at the station. Reporting the news to you every morning was an honor and a privilege. I promise to stay in touch and keep you updated on the next chapter - the future is bright!
Hopeful for what her career holds for her in the future, Pinto ended her Twitter thread. And, several of her well-wishers commented on her post, wishing her luck for the new chapter.
