Acclaimed media owner and co-host of The Sounding Board podcast Craig Hutchison has come up with the new concept for AFL fixture, which he presented in July 2018.
According to his proposal, the new fixture is set to emphasize every marquee Thursday games and also will introduce the wildcard round before the finals.
Speaking to Damian Barrett on their weekly media podcast, Hutchison stated the fixture which involves an 18/8 system for the first 18 rounds, Thursday night games will take place every week for the first 18 rounds, and the wildcard round on the weekend before the finals.
