Edward Enninful was born on 22 February 1972 in Ghana. Later, he, along with his five siblings, was raised in Ladbroke Grove, London, after his parents emigrated there. His mother worked as a seamstress, who inspired him with the vividly patterned colors and fabrics.

Edward first received the taste of fashion at the age of 16, after he was spotted on a train by stylist Simon Foxton. Then, he modeled for Simon and shot with him at his house along with British fashion photographer Nicholas David Gordon "Nick" Knight. For two years, he worked as a model, and by the time he reached 18, he got appointed the role of fashion director at i-D and became the youngest ever fashion director.

By the age of 22, he began working for Calvin Klein. To date, Edward even consulted for numerous runway shows and advertising campaigns, including Christian Dior, Dolce and Gabbana, Celine, Comme des Garçons, Mulberry, Fendi, Hugo Boss, and Missoni.
Eventually, in 1998, Edward managed to become a contributing editor to Italian Vogue, where he spearheaded the production of its 'Black Issue.' Later, in 2006, he became a contributing fashion editor for American Vogue and, in 2017, became the new editor-in-chief of British Vogue.

Edward Enninful first came out as gay when he was 21-year-old. When Attitude magazine asked him why few gay males admit their sexuality, he said,
“It’s like Hollywood’s image of the perfect man and this old notion of what it meant to be a man and that this perfect man couldn’t be gay. We know that’s wrong.”
Edward also encountered racism when he first began modeling. However, he kept on going with his life, and now, he has successfully made a name for himself in the industry.

Since then, together, the couple has appeared in several events. For instance, on 17 May 2019, they had walked down the carpet of the 10th Annual Filmmakers Dinner at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d'Antibes, France.
