Agyeman was born on 20th March 1979 to parents Osei Agyeman (father) and Azar Agyeman (mother) in London. She has a mixed heritage, having an Iranian mother and a Ghanaian father. 

The actress grew up along with her two siblings, a sister Leila and a brother Dominic. And unfortunately, her parents separated while she was young. 

Unlike her parents, she grew up practicing Roman Catholic and attained a catholic school, Our Lady's Convent RC High School, and received her education at Middlesex University in performing arts and drama in 2000.
