On 8 April 2019, Emilia shared never-before-seen pictures and experience from her past hospitalizations.
At the age of 24, Emilia's first aneurysm struck her when she was working out in a London gym. When the aneurysms hit her, Emilia felt like as though an elastic band squeezed her brain and she couldn't stand or walk.
Somehow she reached the toilet when her pain got worse, and that time she knew her brain was damaged.
During that time she had just finished filming the first season of Game of Thrones, and due to the illness, she felt like her aneurysms threatened to sabotage her career.
After Emilia got hospitalized, she was sent for an MRI, a brain scan. The result showed she had an aneurysm, an arterial rupture. Then, she went through a life-threatening surgery at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.

Even though her surgery went well, she suffered from aphasia, a consequence of the trauma brain suffered. Then, she was sent back to I.C.U., and after a week her aphasia passed, and she was able to speak.
However, her doctor informed her that she had a small aneurysm on the other side of her brain which wasn't so harmful.
Then after the surgery, she went back to her normal routine and started filming for Game of Thrones seasons.
She never missed her regular checkup, but once when she went for her brain scan, the growth of the small aneurysm the other side of her brain had doubled in size.
She was immediately taken for second surgery but the surgery failed and had a massive bleed and the operation was the only way to survive. The doctor operated the old-fashioned way surgery which was through her skull.
Nevertheless, the surgery went well, but recovery was more painful than previous surgery. However, due to the brain aneurysms, she lost good taste in men.
In addition, after experiencing life-threatening experience, she has survived the black moment of her life.
