Lara Spencer is an American television journalist who was born on June 19, 1969, in Garden City, New York, United States. She is popular for being the co-anchor of Good Morning America for ABC. She is also a news correspondent for ABC News and Nightline.

Spencer grew up in the suburb of Garden City, Long Island in New York. She graduated from Garden City High School in 1987. After graduating from high school, she attended Pennsylvania State University on an athletic scholarship for platform diving and springboard, and she later became a nationally ranked competitive diver. In 1991 she was named an All-American Athlete in her senior year. She graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University.

After completing her study, Spencer went into the program of NBC where she would volunteer to work with other reporters and gain experience. From there, she gained a position at the WDEF-TV which was an affiliate of CBS in Chattanooga, Tennesse. There she served as reporter, producer, editor, cameraman and even the news-van driver. After a year, she joined News 12 Long Island, and after two years of that, she was anchoring the 3 AM newscast for WABC-TV. In 1999 she joined ABC`s Good Morning America as a national correspondent.

Spencer's has also written some books. Her first book was titled I Brake for Yard Sales, a guide on how to create high-end looking rooms using second-hand finds. The book was published and released in April of 2012. Her second book was titled Flea Market Fabulous: Designing Gorgeous Rooms with Vintage Treasures, which was a guide to designing rooms and homes. It was published and released in September of the year 2014. Spencer was named the grand marshal at Penn State`s  Homecoming 2014 in 2014.

In September 2013, Spencer and Chris Harrison hosted the 87th edition of the Miss America pageant at the Broadwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She again returned to co-host Miss America 2015 with Harrison on September 14 of 2014. In 2017, Spencer hosted the limited series which was called ` People Icons.`

Spencer got married to former CNNfn journalist named David Haffenreffer on September 30, 2000, at St. Andrew's Dune Church. The couple has two children named Kate and Duff. She along with her family lived in the Riverside section of Greenwich, Connecticut until 2008. After that, they moved to Los Angeles. Spencer and her husband David ended their relationship and divorced in June 2015 after 15 years of marriage. She is said to be dating a person and have a boyfriend now whose name is Rick McVey.
