Radhika Jones was born on 23 January 1973, in New York City, New York. She grew up alongside a brother and sister to her American father and Indian mother. The editor in chief for Vanity Fair stands at a decent height, and possess Indian-American ethnicity.  

Radhika’s father, Robert L. Jones, was a prominent figure on the Cambridge folk scene as a singer and guitarist, during the late 1950s and early 1960s. He fell in love and married an Indian girl, Radhika's mother, Marguerite.

Radhika has always been close to her parents, and it was with their motivation and blessings she was able to take up a career in journalism.

After completing her graduation from Harvard University with a Bachelor’s degree in Arts, she pursued higher education and has a  Ph.D. in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia.

Radhika began her media career working as the arts editor of the English-language Moscow Times in Moscow. Besides, she worked as the managing director at The Paris Review before moving to Time in 2008 where she subsequently rose to the post of executive editor in 2011.

The Indian origin journalist served as the editorial director of the books department at The New York Times after joining the newspaper in 2016. However, the career high for Radhika Jones came on 13 November 2017 as she was appointed as the fifth editor-in-chief of the Vanity Fair magazine. She was the first female to have taken helms of the Vanity Fair since 1992 and succeeded Graydon Carter in the role.
